What is Cursor for Business?

Cursor for Business is Cursor's team offering, sold as Teams and Enterprise plans. It adds seat management, admin controls, and privacy features on top of the individual editor (cursor.com).

The core product is the same AI code editor. The business plans add the controls a company needs: shared billing, SSO, admin dashboards, and org-wide privacy settings.

Cursor claims strong enterprise traction. Its enterprise page states "64% Fortune 500 companies using Cursor" and "100M+ lines of enterprise code written per day" (cursor.com/enterprise). Treat vendor adoption stats as marketing, but they signal scale.

How much does Cursor cost for teams?

Cursor Teams has two seat types, as of July 2026. A Standard seat is $40 per user per month, and a Premium seat is $120 per user per month (cursor.com/pricing).

The Premium seat adds roughly 5x the Standard limits on agent usage. Each seat includes at least $20 per month of agent usage per person, which resets each billing cycle (cursor.com).

Enterprise pricing is not published as a flat number. Enterprise adds pooled usage, invoice billing, and wire transfers, and you contact Cursor sales to set terms (cursor.com).

Pricing and included usage change often for AI tools. Always confirm the current numbers on cursor.com/pricing before you budget.

Security, IP, and data handling

Cursor's core protection for business is Privacy Mode. When it is on, Cursor guarantees your code is not used for training by Cursor or its model providers (cursor.com).

A team admin can turn Privacy Mode on org-wide, so no engineer can accidentally opt out. Cursor's enterprise page describes "Privacy Mode enabled org-wide" and "zero data retention" agreements with model providers (cursor.com/enterprise).

Cursor states it holds SOC 2 Type II certification, runs annual penetration testing, and uses AES-256 encryption at rest with TLS 1.2+ in transit (cursor.com/enterprise). SOC 2 Type II is a common baseline for enterprise vendors.

Cursor runs on SOC 2 Type II compliant AWS infrastructure and does not offer on-premises deployment as of July 2026 (cursor.com/enterprise). If you require self-hosting, that is a gap to weigh.

Cursor Teams and Enterprise include SSO with SAML 2.0 at no extra cost. It works with Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, and other major identity providers (cursor.com).

Admins can enforce SSO, disable local login, and provision or deprovision users with SCIM (cursor.com). SCIM matters at scale because it auto-removes access when someone leaves.

Enterprise admins configure model access, MCP servers, and agent rules globally. They also get analytics dashboards showing adoption, usage by team, and AI-assisted code metrics (cursor.com/enterprise).

Enterprise adds audit logs and advanced admin controls on top of Teams (cursor.com). Audit logs are often required by security and compliance reviews.

How to roll Cursor out to a team

Start by enabling Privacy Mode org-wide before the first engineer logs in. This closes the biggest data risk on day one.

Next, wire up SSO and SCIM through your identity provider. Enforce SSO and disable local login so access is centrally controlled.

Run a pilot with one team on Standard seats. Reserve Premium seats for heavy agent users who hit limits. Do not buy Premium for everyone by default.

Set review rules: a human approves every AI-generated change before merge. Use the admin analytics to track adoption and spot who needs training versus who is not using it at all.

Does Cursor have an iOS app?

Cursor has an iOS app for iPhone and iPad, released in public beta on June 29, 2026 (cursor.com). It is included on all paid Cursor plans, not sold as a separate product.

The app lets you run coding agents from your phone. You open a repo, pick a model, and launch an agent much like you would on the desktop, including voice input and slash commands (cursor.com/blog/ios-mobile-app).

Two workflows matter for teams. Cloud Agents run in isolated virtual machines in the cloud, and Remote Control lets you steer an agent already running on your work computer from your phone (cursor.com/blog/ios-mobile-app).

Who is Cursor for Business right for?

Cursor for Business fits teams that want a powerful, agent-capable AI editor with real admin and privacy controls. The SSO, SCIM, and org-wide Privacy Mode make it defensible in a security review.

It is a strong fit for cloud-based teams comfortable on AWS-hosted infrastructure. It is a weaker fit if you require on-premises deployment, which Cursor does not offer today.

Cost-sensitive teams should note the seat prices are higher than some rivals. The value depends on how much your engineers actually use the agent features.

Cursor is worth it for many teams, especially those that want deep AI assistance with grown-up admin controls. Privacy Mode, SSO, SCIM, audit logs, and SOC 2 Type II cover most enterprise checklists.

The main trade-offs are price and the lack of on-prem. At $40 to $120 per seat, you need real adoption to justify the spend. Measure usage in the pilot before you scale.
