Individual users select between Standard, Pro at $20 monthly, and Max at $200 monthly. Standard remains completely free. Verified students and educators can secure Education Pro for $10 monthly through SheerID.
Teams evaluate Enterprise Pro at $40 per seat each month and Enterprise Max at $325 per seat each month. Annual billing cuts those numbers. It drops individual Pro to $17 monthly and reduces team seat rates over a full year.
Perplexity Plans and Prices
Perplexity's Standard plan is free (3 Pro Searches a day), Pro is $20/mo, and Education Pro is $10/mo for verified students. Max is $200/mo ($2,000/yr), and Enterprise Pro / Max are $40 and $325 per seat per month.

Standard Plan Limits and Free Search Features
Perplexity Standard is the free plan, and its limits fall on Pro Search and Research rather than basic search.
The plan includes practically unlimited basic searches. Free accounts receive three Pro Searches per day and one Research query per month. Document uploads are also limited.
Standard accounts do not include advanced AI models, image generation, or premium support. Access to Comet Assistant is also excluded. If your research requires synthesizing multiple sources repeatedly, three queries will run out fast. Perplexity's plan page does not say what happens after that cap, so move to Pro if three a day is not enough.

Paying $20 monthly makes sense if the free plan's three daily Pro Searches cap your work. It is also necessary if your work requires generating images or querying advanced AI models. If standard web summaries answer your daily questions, you can comfortably stay on the free plan.

Perplexity says to use the desktop web upgrade flow instead of the mobile app. Perplexity requires a valid credit or debit card for all promotional and trial redemptions, and those renew at the standard rate.
Free promotional access has ended. The Perplexity Race to Infinity offer for free Perplexity Pro expired on December 31, 2024. No free Perplexity Pro offer is listed today. Perplexity Max for Heavy Usage
Perplexity Max costs $200 per month or $2,000 per year for individual subscribers.
Annual billing equals $167 per month. Max represents the highest-priced individual tier in Perplexity's catalog. Perplexity does not publish specific numerical query quotas or compute priority metrics for Max.
On the Perplexity Pro page, Perplexity displays a limited-time bonus of $450 in Computer credits for Max subscribers. That credit remains a promotional addition that could end.
Buy Max only after Pro's limits stop your work. If the $20 Pro plan handles your queries without interruption, stay on Pro and keep the $180 a month difference.
Enterprise Pricing and Team Plans
Enterprise Pro costs $40 per seat monthly, while Enterprise Max costs $325 per seat monthly.
Annual contracts cost $400 per seat for Enterprise Pro or $3,250 per seat for Enterprise Max. Both tiers bill per seat. Perplexity does not list administrative controls or security specifications in the Enterprise billing FAQ.
A discounted Enterprise rate exists for educational institutions and non-profit organizations. The exact discount percentage is unpublished. Students cannot request this discount directly. An Information Technology (IT) representative or department head must contact Perplexity sales to request it.
Enterprise Pro costs twice as much per seat as Pro. Five Pro subscriptions cost $100 a month, while five Enterprise Pro seats cost $200. Pay the extra $100 only if per-seat team billing is worth that much to you, because the billing FAQ lists no admin features. However, their billing structures and entry points differ. Perplexity Pro offers an annual plan for $204 per year ($17 per month). In contrast, ChatGPT Plus is billed monthly at $20.
OpenAI also sells ChatGPT Go for $8 per month in the United States (US). Perplexity offers no equivalent $8 plan. Student pricing also diverges. Perplexity offers Education Pro at $10 monthly to verified students and educators. OpenAI offers 4 free months for eligible US students (claim by Oct 31, 2026).

Evaluating Perplexity Pricing for Your Daily Work
Pick a Perplexity plan by how often you hit the free caps.
Standard works well for casual lookups. Perplexity Pro is not for occasional users who only need quick factual answers. Perplexity Max is not for standard professionals who never encounter Pro query caps. Spending $200 monthly makes sense only when usage limits stop your research.
Our verdict would change if Perplexity reduced the free tier's three daily Pro Searches or removed file uploads. Under those conditions, upgrading to Pro would become mandatory for basic research. If OpenAI listed an annual ChatGPT Plus price under $17 a month, ChatGPT Plus would beat Perplexity Pro on yearly cost.
