What Whop AI Does
Whop's AI builds websites from a chat and lets outside agents such as Grok, Cursor and Claude run a Whop business.
Yes: Whop uses AI, and a Whop blog video titled "Whop AI" describes it as "Cursor, for business."
At Layer3Labs, we build custom agents for small and mid-sized businesses, and every claim on this page comes from Whop's own documentation.
What Whop AI Is
Whop AI is the AI layer inside Whop. It covers Whop chat for building and editing websites, Economic Intelligence recommendations it can run for you, and AI media and chat APIs. It also includes outside agents that run a Whop business through its CLI and API: Grok, Cursor and Grok Bot through Whop's connectors and plugins, and Claude through the Whop MCP server.
The Media API supports image and video generation through the POST /media/generate endpoint, which bills costs directly from your account balance. Whop's AI Chat object carries an agent_identifier of general or support, which tells your code which of the two agents a chat uses.
Whop's Grok announcement says SpaceXAI named Whop as Grok's first full-stack business connector, which then expanded to Cursor and Grok Bot. For teams choosing among platforms, you can review our full Whop review to see how its general commerce features compare.
Building and Editing Websites with Whop Chat
Whop chat allows sellers to create, modify, and replicate storefronts through conversational prompts. In the dashboard under Websites > New website, you get four setup paths: use a blueprint, create your own, clone an existing site, or add the Whop pixel to an existing site, as detailed in the Whop Blueprints announcement.
Selecting "Create your own" opens an interactive chat prompt. The user describes their business model, and Whop chat generates the web pages, creates the specified products and pricing structures, and ties them directly into native checkout flows. To change a live Whop website, open Whop chat from the Edit button and tell the AI what to change.
"Clone an existing site" takes a URL, rebuilds the site in chat, and recreates the products it sells, connected to checkout. Every site built through these tools is deployed as an app of type website, as documented in the Whop website overview.
Whop websites can be hosted at no charge on a .whop.site subdomain or attached to a custom domain. Each site comes with the Whop pixel pre-installed to monitor page views and checkout conversions. Whop's documentation notes that an app of type website cannot later be converted into a Whop app (b2c_app), so pick the app type before you build. Whop's docs say deploying a blueprint gives its creator 10% of Whop's profit on the site's sales, and publishing one earns 10% from every business that deploys it.
Economic Intelligence and Automated Execution
Whop describes Economic Intelligence as an AI decisioning system that tells a business its single best next step. Whop introduced it in its Economic Intelligence launch post. The Economic Intelligence API reference says each recommendation is generated from the account's sales, site, ads and what the owner has said.
In the dashboard, Economic Intelligence presents operators with specific "recommended actions." Each recommendation has a title, an expected result, and a step-by-step brief that Whop AI carries out. When you click a recommendation and hit run, Whop AI implements it.
Whop reports that businesses using Economic Intelligence for one month saw combined sales grow 31.8%, unique paying customers grow 26.3%, and transactions grow 26.5% compared to the previous month. Whop notes these approximate figures were measured across a sample size of 14,905 businesses.
Developers can also access these recommendations programmatically. According to the Economic Intelligence API reference, the Economic Intelligence API exposes GET /economic_intelligence and PATCH /economic_intelligence/{id}.
Running Whop from Grok, Cursor, Grok Bot, and Claude
To establish the Grok integration, navigate to grok.com/connectors, click New Connector, select Whop, and authorize your account credentials. Once linked, Grok can suggest pricing, set up checkout and run ads for a new product inside the conversation, according to Whop. For an existing Whop business, Grok can pull live data including revenue, ad performance, pixel data, and card spend, according to Whop.
In Cursor, Whop appears in the Cursor Marketplace under "Payments." Users install the integration by searching for Whop, clicking Install, and completing account authorization. Whop explains that both the Grok connector and the Cursor integration extend the underlying Whop CLI, giving external agents the same capabilities and tools available to an authorized terminal user.
Grok Bot enables users to deploy specialized agents assigned distinct operational roles with direct access to Whop business objects, according to Whop. Whop's post states Grok Bot is accessible for Cursor Pro, Pro+ and Ultra, SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus and Heavy, and Cursor Standard and Premium Teams subscribers. Developers can also install the Grok Build plugin via grok plugin install whopio/plugins#dist/grok/whop, as documented in Whop's Grok plugin guide.
Teams using Anthropic's Claude can connect using the official Whop MCP server located at https://mcp.whop.com/mcp. You can add this server in Claude.ai under Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector. A companion documentation server is available at https://docs.whop.com/mcp for searching developer references. For terminal coding environments, the Claude Code plugin installs via /plugin marketplace add whopio/plugins followed by /plugin install whop@whop, which requests the admin permission profile.
What Agents Can Run and What Needs Confirmation
Whop's official CLI overview notes that the command-line tool features 69 command groups but provides no sandbox, test, or dry-run mode. Every CLI command executed by an external agent runs directly against live production systems.
For scripted or headless environments, the CLI accepts authentication via the WHOP_API_KEY environment variable instead of an interactive login. When operating an agent, developers can supply specific agent-mode flags, including --llms, --schema, token budget boundaries, and structured format flags like --format <toon|json|yaml|md|jsonl>. Running whop skills add syncs Whop's skill files into an agent. Whop also publishes an installable agent skill catalog at docs.whop.com/.well-known/skills/index.json.
Whop's MCP server runs consequential operations in two calls. As outlined in the AI and MCP developer guide, consequential operations require an initial prepare call that returns a signed mcp_confirmation_token. The agent must issue a secondary execution call supplying both the confirmation token and an idempotency_key before Whop modifies live data.
Automated integrations must also respect core API controls. According to the troubleshooting documentation, Whop enforces a default rate limit of 600 requests per minute per operation and credential, returning an HTTP 429 rate_limit_exceeded error if exceeded. Developers testing card checkouts safely can use the isolated Whop sandbox at sandbox.whop.com, where test card 4242 4242 4242 4242 succeeds and 4000 0000 0000 0002 declines. In the sandbox, payouts are not available yet, apps and messaging should not be used, and only card payments are supported.
- Token inheritance: minted account tokens inherit all parent privileges if
scoped_actionsis omitted - Webhook deduplication: Whop delivers each webhook event at least once, so handlers should dedupe on
webhook-idand respond 2xx within 5 seconds
Whop AI Pricing and Platform Fees
Whop does not publish a separate subscription price for Whop AI. Whop charges per transaction. The Media API bills AI image and video generation from the account balance. Whop's post lists Grok Bot as accessible on paid Grok and Cursor plans.
Standard platform processing fees depend on payment methods, as outlined in the official Whop fee schedule. Domestic card transactions incur a fee of 2.7% + $0.30 per successful charge. International cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds 1% when it applies. ACH debit carries a 1.5% fee capped at $5. Financing through a partner costs 15% per successful transaction, and 20% for ClarityPay No Interest.
Orchestration adds 0.8%, billing adds 0.5%, and tax and remittance adds 2% when enabled and tax is collected. Enabling all optional add-ons with tax collection brings processing to 6% + $0.30 per transaction. Other operational costs include $0.03 for 3D Secure, $0.07 for Radar fraud screening, $15.00 for payment disputes, and $29.00 for early dispute alerts.
Payout fees vary by rail: standard next-day ACH costs $2.50, Instant Bank Deposit (RTP) costs 4% + $2.50, crypto transfers incur 5% + $1.00, Venmo costs 5% + $2.50, and a bank wire costs $23.00. Because pricing schedules and platform terms change over time, check the official Whop fee schedule to confirm current numbers.
Who Whop AI Fits
Whop AI fits digital sellers and software developers who want conversational tools to build storefronts, update product catalogs, and automate store management through code-aware assistants like Cursor and Claude.
Who this is not for: Teams requiring a sandboxed staging environment for command-line automations should pause before adopting Whop's CLI tools. Test against the sandbox API at https://sandbox-api.whop.com/api/v1 with the official SDKs instead, where money never moves. For comparisons against traditional payment systems, review our analysis of Whop vs Stripe.
What would change our verdict: if Whop adds a sandbox, test or dry-run mode to the Whop CLI, Whop AI would suit teams that must test agent commands before they run in production.
Developers seeking deeper implementation details can read our guide to the Whop API. Before you give an agent access to your Whop account, mint access tokens with scoped_actions set, because a token minted without them inherits every permission of the minting credential.
