Whop Review 2026: Payments, Subscription Billing and Payouts for Small Businesses

Scored the way we score every tool: total cost, setup time, security, integrations, and fit for the job.

Whop is a payment platform where a business runs its checkout, subscription billing, payouts and ads from one dashboard. It is used by SaaS companies, agencies, coaches and service businesses that sell online, and by platforms that need to pay sellers or partners in many countries. Pricing is per transaction with no monthly fee: 2.7% + $0.30 per successful domestic card payment, 1.5% more on international cards, and 1% more when currency conversion applies.

This review covers what Whop does, what it costs, where it fits, and where it doesn't. It is not an accounts payable tool, and we say so below, because that is the question small firms reading our AP guide will ask.

What Whop Is

Whop bundles the money side of an online business into one account. A business creates a product, attaches a plan that charges once or renews on a schedule, and sells it through a checkout link or an embedded checkout on its own site. Buyers see the payment methods common in their country from a menu of more than 100 across 195 countries. Sales land in a balance the business pays out to a bank or wallet, and the same account can pay other people out: contractors, businesses on a platform, or partners earning a commission.

For businesses that want a website too, Whop generates one from a description typed into a chat, hosts it free at a .whop.site address and lets the owner edit it by describing changes. Ads can be run from the same dashboard through a Meta integration. For technical teams there is an API, SDKs in TypeScript, Python and Ruby, a command-line interface, and a sandbox with fake money for testing.

Total Cost

There is no subscription. The published fees, all in US dollars:

  • Domestic card payments: 2.7% + $0.30 per successful transaction
  • International cards: +1.5%; currency conversion: +1% when it applies
  • ACH debit: 1.5%, capped at $5 per transaction
  • Financing through partners such as Klarna and Afterpay: 15% per successful transaction
  • Optional add-ons that stack on the base rate, billed only when enabled: billing automation 0.5%, payment orchestration 0.8%, managed tax 2% (when enabled and tax is collected); everything on with tax collected comes to 6% + $0.30
  • Payouts: next-day ACH $2.50, instant bank deposit 4% + $1.00 where supported, Venmo 5% + $1.00 (US recipients only), crypto 5% + $1.00, bank wire $23.00, international local bank transfer varies by country
  • Fraud and disputes: 3D Secure $0.03 and fraud screening $0.07 per transaction, $15.00 per dispute, $29.00 per early dispute alert
On a $50 monthly plan the base fee is $1.65 per renewal, and $2.30 with billing automation and orchestration switched on. A business paying out $500 a week by next-day ACH pays $2.50 per payout. The cost model is easy to forecast because every line scales with volume; the trade-off is that a high-volume business cannot negotiate interchange-plus pricing the way it could with an enterprise acquirer.

Setup Time

A non-technical owner can be taking payments the same day: create the account, complete verification, create a product and plan, share the checkout link. Payouts require identity verification on a Whop-hosted page before the first withdrawal, with a tax identification number required for US recipients.

A developer integration is a longer job but a bounded one. The embedded checkout is a React or JavaScript component, webhooks report payment and membership events, and the sandbox at sandbox.whop.com has its own accounts and test cards that succeed, decline, trigger a 3D Secure challenge, or save and then fail on every charge. One environment variable switches the SDK between sandbox and production.

Security and Compliance

The embedded checkout handles PCI compliance so card data does not touch the business's servers. Machine-learning fraud screening and 3D Secure are available per transaction at the fees above. For payouts, Whop draws every screen that touches a passport, an IBAN or a wallet address, so a platform paying people never stores identity documents or bank details itself, and KYC, sanctions screening and tax collection run on Whop's side.

What to check for your own situation: fees and reporting are in US dollars, so businesses outside the US will convert for their books; and payouts to a local bank outside the US are quoted per destination, so the coverage list for your country is worth reading before you commit.

Integrations

Whop's integration surface is its API rather than a marketplace of pre-built connectors. Webhooks cover payment succeeded, payment failed and membership events, which is enough to drive a CRM, a helpdesk or an accounting sync if a developer wires it. The CLI, installed from whop.com/install.sh, exposes the full API from the terminal or an AI agent, which is how some businesses now create products, set prices and read stats without opening the dashboard.

What is missing, and it matters for readers of our AP guide: Whop does not capture supplier invoices, match them to purchase orders or route approvals. It is the tool for money coming in and money going out to people you pay, not for processing bills from vendors. There is no published native sync to QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite; that connection is built through the API or a middleware tool.

Fit for the Job

Whop fits when:

  • You sell online and want checkout, recurring billing and payouts in one account with no monthly fee
  • You pay contractors, sellers or partners in several countries and would rather not build KYC and payout screens
  • You are a small team that wants to run the business from one dashboard, or run it through an agent via the CLI

Where Whop Does Not Fit

Whop does not fit when:

  • Your problem is accounts payable: invoice capture, PO matching, approval routing, ERP sync
  • You need your own merchant account, negotiated interchange-plus rates, or card-present hardware
  • Your billing needs usage-based metering and proration at the depth of a dedicated billing engine

Verdict

Whop is a payment platform for businesses that sell online and pay people out, and it is priced so that a firm pays nothing until it earns. For a small business choosing between assembling a checkout provider, a billing tool and a payout service, or running all three from one account, Whop is the one-account option, with the trade-offs above stated on its own fee page. For accounts payable in the sense our AP guide covers, it is the wrong category; pair it with one of the AP tools on that list if you need both.
