The best alternative to Claude Dashboards is the artificial intelligence (AI) tool built into the platform that holds your data. Power BI with Copilot fits organizations in Microsoft ecosystems, while Google Cloud environments pair with Looker conversational analytics. Teams with centralized data platforms can deploy Snowflake CoWork or Databricks Genie directly against existing warehouses.

Anthropic announced Claude Dashboards on October 8, 2026, as an artifact template in beta for paid plans. Claude Dashboards queries connected platforms like Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, Snowflake, and Salesforce, displaying the underlying Structured Query Language (SQL) query on every chart. According to coverage by Frederic Lardinois on The New Stack, the launch arrived one month after OpenAI introduced a data agent for ChatGPT Work.

Anthropic does not position Claude Dashboards as a replacement for full business intelligence (BI) suites, but as an exploratory query layer that hands off to platforms like Hex and Sigma.

ChatGPT Work Data Agent for Teams That Work in ChatGPT

The ChatGPT Work Data agent is a plugin OpenAI launched in September 2026 that builds and modifies dashboards across external business intelligence platforms. Users start the Data agent with @Data in ChatGPT Work, Techzine reports.

The New Stack reports the Data agent builds dashboards much like Claude Dashboards and connects to Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, MongoDB, Snowflake, and Datadog. Techzine notes that the Data agent can build and edit dashboards in Omni, Oracle BI, Power BI, Sigma, Tableau, and ThoughtSpot.

Admins enable the Data agent alongside specific data-source plugins, and data access follows the permissions of each user's linked account. Neither Techzine nor The New Stack states which ChatGPT plans include the Data agent or what it costs.

Microsoft Power BI with Copilot for Governed Workspaces

Power BI pairs enterprise reporting and semantic models with Copilot, which writes DAX queries. As outlined in the Power BI overview, Power BI combines the Power BI Desktop authoring client with the cloud-based Power BI Service.

Per official Power BI pricing, Power BI Pro costs $14.00 per user monthly paid yearly as of October 2026, while Power BI Premium Per User (PPU) costs $24.00 per user monthly paid yearly. Copilot features require access to a paid Microsoft Fabric capacity at F2 or higher, or Power BI Premium capacity at P1 or higher, per Microsoft Copilot documentation.

Power BI allows up to 8 scheduled refreshes a day on Pro and 48 on PPU, according to scheduled refresh documentation. Microsoft also provides hosted, preview-stage MCP servers that let clients like Claude Desktop query and modify semantic models using Entra credentials. For more, see Claude Dashboards vs Power BI and the Power BI Copilot guide.

  • Copilot creates report pages, summarizes models, and writes DAX queries, but cannot alter visual styling or formatting
  • Row-level security (RLS) restricts data access for viewers based on security roles defined in the model
  • Fabric IQ MCP exposes read-only data access returning up to 250 rows by default to external AI clients

Google Looker Conversational Analytics with Gemini

Conversational analytics in Looker uses Gemini for Google Cloud to run plain-language queries against centralized data warehouse models. Google Cloud documentation lists BigQuery, AlloyDB, Redshift, Snowflake, and Databricks as sources.

Users can interact directly with an individual Looker Explore or converse with a data agent querying up to five Explores simultaneously. Google Cloud notes that a data agent acts as a specialized standalone analyst that teams can customize and distribute across an organization.

Conversational analytics works in both Looker Google Cloud core and Looker original instances. Conversational analytics is not yet included in Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) High or Medium authorization boundaries. Google's price for conversational analytics was not available as of October 2026.

Tableau Agent and Tableau Next for Visual Exploration

Tableau Agent assists users in creating calculations, building chart visualizations, and uncovering trends within Salesforce analytics environments. Per the Tableau Einstein guide, the agent generates visualizations directly from natural-language descriptions on Tableau Cloud.

According to official Salesforce analytics pricing, Tableau Cloud starts at $15 per user monthly billed annually as of October 2026. Tableau Next starts at $40 per user monthly billed annually, which includes Tableau Agent and Tableau Semantics under an annual contract.

On Tableau Cloud, Tableau Agent needs a site with Tableau+ and AI turned on, plus a Creator or Explorer site role. Salesforce's pricing page lists only those two starting prices, with no separate Creator or Explorer seat price.

Snowflake CoWork and Databricks Genie for Warehouse Data

Snowflake Intelligence, now named Snowflake CoWork, reached general availability on November 4, 2025, per Snowflake release notes. It uses Cortex Analyst to write SQL and Cortex Search for unstructured data. Its Vega-Lite charts can be saved as artifacts your team reuses at ai.snowflake.com.

Databricks offers Databricks Genie, an interface governed through Unity Catalog for natural-language analysis. Per Databricks setup docs, Genie Agents support up to 50 Unity Catalog tables or metric views each and require a pro or serverless SQL warehouse. Databricks states that Genie usage by human users is free through January 31, 2027.

  • Snowflake CoWork generates SQL from semantic views and provides $400 in free credits during a 30-day trial
  • Snowflake charts support most Vega-Lite visualizations but do not generate geographic maps
  • Databricks bills Genie use by service principals, which are excluded from the free period
  • Databricks AI/BI dashboards support AI authoring and share with any registered Databricks account user

Hex, Julius AI, and ThoughtSpot for Analyst-Led Work

According to official Hex pricing, Hex offers a free Community plan, a Professional plan at $36 per Editor monthly, and a Team plan at $75 per Editor monthly as of October 2026. Hex AI features consume monthly credit grants, powering Hex Threads and the Notebook Agent to edit logic across Python and SQL cells.

ThoughtSpot pricing lists user-based Essentials starting at $25 per user monthly and Pro starting at $50 per user monthly billed annually as of October 2026. ThoughtSpot's pricing page lists Spotter AI Agents at 25 queries a month per user on user-based plans. Usage-based plans, from $0.10 per credit, list unlimited large language model (LLM) tokens, but the page does not clearly tie each price to its column. Spotter integrates with Claude and Gemini, per ThoughtSpot Spotter.

Julius AI's prices come from third-party listings rather than julius.ai. Coefficient lists Plus at $35 a month and Pro at $45 a month. Coefficient verified those prices in April 2026. Other third-party pages give different tiers and prices, and one says Julius moved to credit pools. Julius Pro lists connectors for PostgreSQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, Supabase, and Stripe per third-party listings.

Tools That Work Alongside Claude Dashboards

Anthropic built Claude Dashboards to operate alongside production business intelligence tools rather than replacing them entirely. Anthropic's dashboards announcement says "Dashboards work alongside your BI and analytics tools."

Users can export dashboards directly from Claude into Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma to continue detailed analysis. Anthropic lists Looker, monday.com, and Tableau handoffs as coming soon as of October 2026, though The New Stack reported monday.com as available at launch.

Anthropic has not published row limits or a refresh schedule for Claude Dashboards, or said whether it can write back to the warehouse. Organizations handling protected health information (PHI) cannot run Claude Dashboards under a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), so teams must keep PHI out of them. Setup steps are in the Claude Dashboards guide, and Claude Code use is covered in Claude Code artifacts and dashboards.

The Verdict

Choose Power BI with Copilot if you need semantic models, row-level security, and scheduled refresh of up to 8 times a day on Pro or 48 on Premium Per User. Choose Looker with Gemini if your models live in Looker Explores.

Choose Snowflake CoWork or Databricks Genie if your primary goal is letting non-technical stakeholders interrogate warehouse data using plain language.

Choose Claude Dashboards if you already pay for Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plans and need fast exploratory data charts without filing engineering tickets. The SQL query shown on each chart lets you check what each number counts, and native handoffs to tools like Hex and Sigma allow technical users to deepen the analysis when initial findings warrant it.

The recommendation would change if Anthropic publishes a refresh schedule for Claude Dashboards or brings it under its Business Associate Agreement. Until those governance features ship, Claude Dashboards serves best as an exploratory workspace rather than a primary enterprise BI system. To compare Claude Dashboards alternatives on your own data, ask one question in Claude Dashboards and in the option that matches your data stack, then check which one shows the query behind the number.
